Join us Saturday, December 10, for a member only intergenerational activity at the San Mateo Senior Center. This month, you’ll have the opportunity to create a Story Corps audio recording of your memories and stories with the help of volunteers. Just in time for the holidays, your story could be a fun gift to send your family or friends!
Volunteers from the National Charity League, a group of mother and
daughter volunteers, will help facilitate a conversation with members and take care of the technical part of recording. After the event, you will receive the recording of your interview as an audio file in your email so you can share it with whomever you want. And, if you’d like, you can share the recording publicly by uploading it to the Story Corps website. This will preserve your recording in the Story Corps archive in the Library of Congress! Visit https://storycorps.org for archived stories of people from all backgrounds sharing their stories.
You’re welcome to bring up to two family members or friends to participate in the interview with you. If there is a particular topic
you’d like to talk about, you can let your interviewers know. If you aren’t sure, we have prepared some questions to get the conversation started! We’ll meet at the San Mateo Senior Center, 2645 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo, where there is plenty of parking behind the building and street parking. Space is limited and registration is required. You will need to choose a 1-hour time slot for the interview, between 1-2 pm or 2-3pm. If you would like to attend, please call Leonie Batkin (VSMC volunteer) 650-556-6205, or email firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, December 6th. Be sure to indicate which time slot you prefer (1-2 pm or 2-3 pm) and whether or not you will need a ride. Masks are optional.
